View source for Oravians

Oravians are the native species of the planet [[Forminza]]. Oravians are sapient humanoid bird people that come in many different colors and patterns. Oravians can fly, similar to actual birds.

The name “oravian” came from a misinterpretation of the scientist who discovered them talking about them to another scientist. The scientist who discovered them was a human named Bolinky Shminky, who said “They’re like humans… or avians.” The other scientist he was talking to thought he said “oravians” and the name stuck. After contact was made with the oravians, they said their species was called “bloiumblome”, but the name oravians had already stuck.
