Randol

Randol is a large desert planet in the outer regions. Randol has a large population, but never many tourists, which is because it is very expensive to get there, as Randol is not close to any other planet, and very far away from Centera. Randol has many bounty hunters, people like Cade Corda and Toro Cornaski. Most people get around by motorcycles, which makes gas a vital resource if you want to survive. Traveling by foot never gets very far, because Randol towns are few and far between. If you have a lot of water, you could be able to walk from town to town, but having so much resources and no motorcycle will be a target for desert riders. Randol is always super hot during the day and cold at night. ¼ of the planet is owned by Gir Humble, and the rest has no ruler. The portion owned by Gir Humble is more developed and towns are more clustered together. There are barely any desert riders there too. Desert riders would go there to steal things, but the whole portion is guarded by Gir soldiers, who will beat up any desert riders that go there. This sounds like it would be a lot nicer than living on the outside, but Gir Humble has it so that if you are living in his territory, you have to pay rent. The rent is 500 UC a month for adults and 250 for kids, but you stop being a kid once you are 10 years old. The rent in dollars is 2,500 for adults and 1,250 for kids. Even though the outside doesn’t have any government like Gir’s territory, there are still mayors for every town and village, but basically none of the mayors charge rent and they only accept donations.

Because Randol is so expensive to get to, futuristic technology is hard to find. This is because no shipping company wants to spend the money to fly over there and give technology to everyone, especially for it to get stolen by desert riders. The shipping companies, along with not wanting to spend the money, have no point to do it ever because there is no government to pay them. This makes Gir Humble even more of a threat to the rest of Randol because he has technology that no one else has. There is some technology trading going on between Gir’s territory and the rest of Randol that Gir doesn’t know about. Along with trading, the other sources of technology on Randol are from foreigners that came to Randol with the expertise to make it. The gun trade is what Randol is known for, with gun makers crafting incredibly powerful and cool guns. Of course, these guns are very expensive, most of them being way past what most people on Randol make in a year.

Randol has many oases, but just like the towns, they are few and far between. There are 4 huge oases, and then many small ones around the entire planet. Even though there is many oases, remember that Randol is a large planet, so finding any of them is typically a challenge. Many of the towns are built around these oases so they have plenty of water.

Randol has a huge amount of abandoned towns and villages. Whether they ran out of water, or everybody was killed by desert riders or the heat. These towns make good hiding places for people trying to survive a sandstorm or the cold of night.
