Kulethwup are a species of dangerous jellyfish-like animals on Gorogon. They live in the shallow areas of beaches and wait for their prey to come near, which is typically a human or other sapient species. As soon as they do, the kulethwup jumps out of the water and bites them on the face, latching on tightly and injecting venom while it drinks their blood. This attack is usually fatal, but if you manage to pry them off, they leave large scars on your face that never heal and many times the side of their face the bite was on turns paralyzed from the venom. A lot of hunters are hired to capture the kulethwup and dispose of them. The venom can be used for a few purposes, including medicine or for venom-infused weaponry.

In ancient times, the kulethwup were treated as sacred animals and that you must not go in their waters otherwise they bite you. They would also feed the kulethwup to supposedly satisfy them.
